Check out Garth Vander Houwen’s awesome ESP8266 button project on GitHub. Garth designed a small 3D printed enclosure to hold an ESP8266 WiFi board like the Adafruit Huzzah ESP8266, a button, and a LED. This simple set of controls is similar to the Amazon Dash button, but because it’s built on the ESP8266 it can be programmed with the Arduino IDE to do almost anything. In this case the button triggers an event on IFTTT’s recently added Maker channel and that allows you to have the button do anything IFTTT supports, like send a tweet, change your smart light bulb colors, and much more. Awesome work!
