You can see Sara Hall’s first-time NYC Marathon performance through her Fitbit Surge recording. She came in 9th place among women with an impressive time of 2:36:12. She is sponsored by Fitbit and has shared her race data. Sara’s stats show a perfect race. Here is what is worth noting:
- Slow start – The first mile pace is 6:43 which is over a minute slower than the rest of her mile splits. Starting slow gives the body time to warm up and adapt.
- Heart Rate – An average heart rate of 159 is only 10 points over MAF which seems ideal for marathon pace. This is a maintainable race pace. It is impressive how she kept her HR in this sweet spot for the entire race without any significant spikes.
- She is FAST- Her average pace is just under six minutes. She even breaks into the higher four minute pace briefly during mid-race.
Does the name Hall sound familiar? Her husband Ryan Hall retired last fall, but holds the us records in half marathon 59:43 and the only American with a sub-2:05 marathon.
