Pentagon told to boost manufacturing engineering education
New legislation calls for a manufacturing engineering education program to be run by the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
This is pretty cool because the grant program focuses on education and training as a precursor to developing civilian technologies and manufacturing facilities for military applications. It’s not a large program, but at the very least it supports the notion that having an approach to continuing education for your employees is central to success in this day and age.
Also check out the DoD’s Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) Deskbook (2011) for some general criteria and best practices for working with the government (and working in general!)
